Ziad S. Al-Labban

Ziad brought to his current position 33-years of work experience with Saudi Aramco in the oil, gas and petrochemical businesses in both the upstream and downstream sectors. Prior to Sadara Chemical Company, Ziad was President and CEO of Petro Rabigh where he served from August 2009 thru September 2012. Petro Rabigh has a 400,000 barrel per day integrated refinery-petrochemical plant in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia which came on-stream the year Ziad joined Petro Rabigh. Though Petro Rabigh had a net loss for 2009, during 2010, 2011 and 2012, Petro Rabigh was successful to realize annual net profits.

Prior to assuming his position in Petro Rabigh, Ziad was the President and CEO of Saudi Refining, Incorporated (SRI) in Houston, Texas from August 2007 through July 2009.  During that time, he was responsible for managing SRI’s interest in Motiva Enterprises, which is a major US refiner with three refineries supported by a marketing network which includes approximately 8,000 Shell branded gasoline retail outlets in the southern and eastern United States.  The Port Arthur Refinery in Texas is the flagship refinery of Motiva and is a 600,000 barrel per day refinery, making it the largest oil refinery in the US.

Ziad’s career with Saudi Aramco has taken him through a broad range of responsibilities spanning upstream and downstream oil and gas businesses.  This has included work experience in other companies where he was seconded, such as 1-year assignment with Exxon Production and Research Company in Houston, Texas in 1984 and a 3-year assignment as Vice President of Corporate Planning for Petron Corporation in the Philippines starting in 1998.  During his tenure in the Philippines, Ziad was also a director on Petron’s Board and Chairman of Ovincor, which is an insurance subsidiary of Petron located in Bermuda.

Ziad holds a B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, he holds a M.Sc. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University in the US.
