Head of HR & Support Services, Chemicals | Saudi Aramco

Reem is an HR leader at Saudi Aramco. She is currently the head of HR & Support Services in Chemicals Business. Other roles she has led include head of Diversity & Inclusion, Women Development, head of Internal Mobility, head of Career Planning, Head of Expat Employment, and Supervisor of the Academic Programs in Dhahran and at Aramco Services Co. in Houston, Texas. She has also lead the Saudi Aramco Hosted University Programs, and Continuing Education & Learning.

Reem chairs and is a founding member of a number of boards and councils that support women in the energy sector, including the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards and Symposium (LEWAS), held annually in Bahrain, and the Gulf Region Organization for Women (GROW) network, focused on industry partnerships towards gender diversity advancement in energy.
Reem has participated and presented in a number of global conferences and workshops, which include GetEnergy, WPC, MEOS, NAFSA, IP Week, and others. While in Houston, she was also an Advisory Board member and panel speaker for Women’s Global Leadership Organization. Recently, Reem has won a number of awards, including the “Distinguished Alumni” award from the University of Minnesota (2018) and the “Learning at the Core” award from GetEnergy (2017).

Luca works as a Managing Director with Albemarle Middle East FZE based in Dubai. He has over 18 years of experience in refining and catalyst industries. He joined Albemarle in 2005 as FCC technical sales for European customers. In his career with Albemarle he covered various role in the technical sales organization up to Sales Regional Director for Europe and Africa from the Netherlands office. In 2016 he moved to Houston office, where he has covered the role as global business manager for hydroprocessing catalyst till 2019.

Luca holds an MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, gained at the Federico II University of Naples in Italy.

Padmini is a Market Developer with ExxonMobil Catalysts and Licensing. She has more than 10 years of experience working in the energy industry. Previous roles held were in R&D (Specializing in Catalyst Development and Testing), Process Engineering and Technical Sales with other licensing companies. In her current role with ExxonMobil the focus is on developing marketing plans and facilitating technology licensing in the Fuels and Lubes area.

Padmini holds a Master’s Degree in Biochemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India and another Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from University Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Rafael González Sánchez, PhD is Regional Marketing Manager EMEA for W. R. Grace & Co.’s refining technologies business. Rafael joined GRACE as R&D researcher leading new FCC catalyst and additives developments before moving to Regional Technical Sales Manager for six years to provide FCC Technical Service to refineries prior to current position. Rafael holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Engineering and Advanced Technologies from Barcelona University, Spain. His thesis topic was Heterogeneous Catalysis Developments for Refining Industry.  Rafael has more than 14 years’ extensive multidisciplinary experience in catalyst design and development as well as FCC unit technical service. He is co-author of several publications in the FCC industry field.

Mr. Lander is Managing Director and Chief Innovation Officer at ATR which he has led for 30 years. He is a top consultant in the area of digital procedure program management and digital transformation of procedures to enable mobility and content personalization. He is a thought leader and expert in the area of human factored procedures and reliability. Mr. Lander is one of the core team founders of the Abnormal Situation Management Consortium and the Texas A&M Next Generation Procedure Consortium. He holds an M.S. Chemical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon and B.S. Chemistry from William and Mary.

Louis Roland R. Desal is the Senior Vice President Operations at Borouge since November
2017, based in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. He is responsible for Borouge’s Operations in Ruwais, including the operations of three world scale ethane crackers and 10 state-of-the-art polyolefin
plants of a total design capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per year.

Prior to joining Borouge, Louis spent over 27 years in operations with Borealis, starting as Production Manager in Belgium. While taking up various operational leadership roles at different production locations in Europe, he also took up the position of HSE Manager responsible for the Belgian production locations, combined with leading the corporate Process Safety Leadership team for the European locations of the Borealis Group. His latest role at Borealis was Senior
Vice President Operations Base Chemicals where he was responsible for the Hydrocarbon and Fertilizer production units at different locations in Europe.

Louis was engaged in several leadership transformations processes related to merger and acquisitions. He successfully contributed to the overall operational performance of Borealis, specifically in relation to HSE and Operational Excellence improvement.

Louis holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Belgium since 1982, and an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Austria since 2010. He is a Belgian national.
