Robert holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Technical University in Graz, Austria and a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a registered EUR Ing, a chartered engineer in the UK and a Fellow of the iChemE with 20+ years’ experience in the international Process Industry.
He worked initially for OMV in Austria and Romania on strategic residual oil upgrading projects before he moved to the UK joining the Petroplus Coryton refinery. He was a member of the refinery senior leadership team when Petroplus went into administration and Coryton seized operation as a refinery in 2012 and sold as a terminal.
Before joining the Bapco Modernisation Program (BMP) in June 2019 as the deputy Project Director for Engineering and Procurement, Robert worked for Wood (formerly Foster Wheeler) initially in the Business Solutions Group in Reading and then he was assigned for over 5 years to Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Korea) where he served as a Project Manager & Project Director for clients like S-OIL in Korea, Thaioil & IRPC in Thailand and NSRP in Vietnam, leading FEEDs and PMCs of multibillion US$ integrated refinery and petrochemical projects.

Joseph Ibrahim is the Managing Director at Axens Middle East.
He has over twenty years’ experience in the Petroleum Industry, having served in a variety of areas that include Process Engineering, Refinery Technical Services, Training, Technology and Project Management. He has held several technical, sales and management positions and he developed an extensive international experience as he was assigned abroad for more than 15 years.

During his tenure at BCG, he advised Oil Companies, Chemical Companies and Investment companies across Europe, Middle East and Africa on business strategy and corporate development, operational excellence and organizational effectiveness.
In the Middle-East, he has led the development of the Downstream Long Term Strategy for three of the major National Oil Companies in the region, digital transformations and operational improvement programs in refining and chemical plants (steam cracker and polymer units), and supported the acquisition and divestment of overseas assets.
Mirko is often featured on specialized press, and is a frequent speaker at conferences and events.
Prior to BCG, Mirko worked in Europe in the downstream business of an oil company.
He holds a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of RomaTre (Rome, Italy), a MBA from SDA Bocconi (Milan, Italy), and is also an Alumnus of SEM Tsinghua (Beijing, PRC).

Alberto Lozano Ballesteros is a Senior Techno Economic Analyst at Saudi Aramco Technology Strategy and Planning Department. Alberto has a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering, a MSc in Chemical Engineering by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a MSc in Refining by the IPF School in Paris. Alberto has over 15 years of experience working in different downstream roles before his current position: Process Engineer with IFP and Axens, Refining Consultant with KBC Process Technologies and Research Process Engineer with Saudi Aramco R&DC Chemicals Division. Particular areas of Alberto expertise are Techno Economic Analysis, Crude-Oil to Chemicals, Wide Refinery Modeling and Simulation and Refinery-Petrochemicals Integration. Alberto has as well significant experiences in process simulation tools such as Petro SIM, Hysys, Spyro, and Coil SIM. Alberto enjoys transfer and sharing via training and day-to-day coaching of young engineers. Alberto co-delivers Saudi Aramco official one-week Refining Economics training and has designed and taught the course “Economic Evaluations for Downstream Oil & Gas Facilities” which has received very positive feedback by more than 40 attendees within Saudi Aramco and was delivered to the Gulf Downstream Association in July 2019. As a Saudi Aramco Research Engineer Alberto is a co-author of two awarded patents and several ongoing IP applications.
